Meaning of 虚空

虚空 (xūkōng) is the void and emptiness — a Buddhist concept of non-attachment, and the formless state from which all things arise in Taoist cosmology.

To say Void in Chinese, pronounce 虚空 as Xū kōng. The marks over the letters show the tones — the pitch contour that distinguishes Mandarin syllables.
